Fox Hill Farm and Siena Farm have purchased 2014 Brazilian Triple Crown winner Bal a Bali (Put It Back-US — In My Side-Brz, by Clackson-Brz).
Bal a Bali became Brazil’s 12th Triple Crown winner by winning the Grande Premio Cruzeiro do Sul (Brz I) in track record time of 2:23.25 for the 2400 meters (about 12 furlongs). In the first leg of the Triple Crown, Bal a Bali also set a track record. The time of 1:31.36 for 1600 meters (about 1 mile) was just shy of a world record.
With 11 wins and 1 third in 12 starts, Bal a Bali will now try to bring to the U.S. the same exciting form he showed in Brazil. Bal a Bali has earned a “Win and You’re In” spot in the Breeders’ Cup Turf (GI) but with his prowess extending from a mile to a mile-and-one-half and a pedigree that indicates that dirt may not be out of his realm, the colt has a few options that we will explore.
Born on Sept. 22, 2010, the Brazilian 3-year-old will be a young 4-year-old in the States. Bal a Bali will be sent to trainer Richard Mandella.
