Stable Update

This is a long past due update.

I will start with the horses with Larry Jones as I think you are most familiar with them.  Friesan Fire came to Larry needing considerably more fitness training.  He has gained much needed weight and looks much better now.  He still is not fit enough to race and Larry feels we are about six weeks away from racing him.  Ronald Reagan is coming along very nicely and Larry feels he has the potential to be a very good three year old.  He is probably our last chance for a nice colt.  He is extremely large and Larry is going very slowly with him to avoid any injuries if possible.  He will continue to increase his breeze lengths and probably need more galloping and 4 to 5 5/8ths works.  He will run when Larry feels he is ready to finish a race without getting too tired.

Winslow Homer is coming along nicely but slowly after a minor injury.  He should start to breeze soon.  Havre de Grace is just doing as good as possible.  Her last work was almost effortless and Larry called me when he caught her with his horse and said she was hardly blowing and only drank a half bucket of water.  Joyful Victory is also doing great and breezed Monday in just the time Larry was looking for.  We are pointing her to “The Mother Goose” at Belmont on June 25th.

Gathering Cloud ran a nice race last time out but I am going to run him for a tag next time out since he doesn’t fit the Fox Hill program of trying to make graded stakes horses.  He will make someone a nice claiming horse.  Spin Zone did not run great yesterday and we scoped him and found the lung infection had left a lot of mucus.  At least he had an excuse.  I am hoping Commander likes the turf today.  We will know shortly.

Victoria has updated you on the two year olds.  Steve has received Coach and Milestone.  He told me this morning that he loves the way Coach gets over the ground. I went down to see all the two year olds that came to Stidham and Hobby and was very impressed with several of them.  Coach, Brigade, Katmango and The Thinker are very impressive and have matured a lot.

Days Like This is leaving Asmussen’s barn and shipping Friday to Steve Hobby.  She is Delaware certified and should be a good addition to Steve’s horses for FHF.

Jeff Runco had a nice win with Tres Chic the other night and he thinks Jargon is going to run great next time.  He has a couple others in Dealer and Pentagon that we are not sure of their ability at this point.

I am hoping for a big effort and a win for Havre de Grace this weekend and hope as many of you Fox Hill Farm fans as possible will be at Delaware Park to root her on.
