Fox Hill Farm scored its first win as both the owner and breeder when Tres Chic won her debut Thursday night. Sent off as the 2nd choice in the 4 1/2 furlong maiden special weight, Tres Chic settled back in fourth before commencing a 5-wide sweep around the turn and clearing the field by 2 lengths at the wire. By Harlan’s Holiday out of the Unbridled mare Safely, one would think that she’d be better with additional distance.
Fox Hill Farm purchased Safely while in foal with Tres Chic. Rick Porter was attracted to her since she was a three-quarter sister to Fox Hill Farm’s graded stakes winner Honest Man. An inspection of her at the sale showed that she was a pretty mare, with a beautiful head and neck. After foaling her Harlan’s Holiday filly, she was bred to Hard Spun. The resulting colt was sold to Larry Jones at the following September sale and should be starting for Jones this year as a 2-year-old.
